Review of Jiminy Glick in Lalawood (2005) by Andrew F — 15 Oct 2005
DVD First Viewing, 1 Jean film seen.
I used to love Martin Short when I was younger. Clifford was one of my favorite movies. I would say I only sort of like him now. I have only seen a few episodes of "Jiminy Glick." Megan's the real fan. But I was interested in this film because I heard Martin Short not only plays Jiminy Glick but director David Lynch also. He is only so-so as Jiminy, but him as David Lynch stole the show for me and gives this moderately funny comedy the fresh tomato from me.
Anyone who likes David Lynch will probably not be offended by this film. Short takes his impression overboard and adds a few quips which could be construed as insulting, but I feel as if he was just trying to be funny (and it indeed is). Everytime he starts talking about a "dark road," you will probably laugh for a minute or so.
Earlier this year, a "Strangers With Candy" movie was also released. I like that show a heck of a lot more than "Jiminy Glick," but I have heard nothing great about the "Strangers" movie. I hope I will be surprised by its obvious greatness (or maybe not). When does that hit DVD!?
