Review of Jigsaw (2017) by Kelly F — 27 Jan 2018
***SPOILER WARNING***.
I just finished watching Jigsaw and I loved it! I was a big fan of the original, but lost my interest as the sequels rolled on. Each sequel trying to one up the last with some epic twist that just left the whole story confusing and convoluted.
One of the best parts of Jigsaw is that you can delete all those sequels from your brain and watch Jigsaw as a fresh sequel to the original. A stand alone story that only requires you see the original. It also sets up a successor that can carry the future of the franchise, which I hope they do.
Anyone that has seen the show "The Glades" is familiar with Matt Passmore's work. He's a great actor that I like very much. Seeing him step into the series was pretty awesome. The character is great, one half loving father, and one half avenging killer. His job as the coroner not only gives him access to new victims to avenge, but allows him to control many aspects of the investigation. Combine that with his seemingly normal family life, and a sexy assistant that is obsessed with Jigsaw, and you have a great dynamic that does not require confusing, poorly written twists. Instead, you've created the new "Dexter".
I sincerely hope they keep on Matt Passmore and cast and continue the Saw franchise through these characters. Passmore's "Logan" was Jigsaw's first apprentice, and in my mind, the only one worth watching. I really enjoyed this movie.
