Jim Garrison is an interesting guy. Catch his cameo appearance as himself (a New Orleand district court judge) in THE BIG EASY. This film is very entertaining but one is not sure about the historical accuracy.
Stone was greatly affected by his experiences in Vietnam and feels that the assanination of JFK was a turning point on the road to war. The actions of JFK as president before he was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald (and the 2nd gunman?) had already put the United States on the road to the conflict in Vietnam.
Like Garrison himself, Stone is a maverick and should be apreciated as one.
