Review of JFK (1991) by Danny R — 23 Jul 2015
Oliver Stone's magnificent conspiracy thriller is an absolutely riveting motion picture. It concerns New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison, played impressively by Kevin Costner, in a bravura performance, and his involvement in finding the truth about the assassination of President John F.
Kennedy, which will become his obsession. Garrison conducts his own investigation with his trusted team, and what they discover will lead him to his prime suspect in the assassination conspiracy, the prominent aristocratic gay businessman Clay Shaw, brilliantly played by Tommy Lee Jones, in an unforgettable Academy Award nominated performance.
Dramatic moviemaking with masterful direction by Oliver Stone, and extraordinary supporting performances by Gary Oldman, Kevin Bacon, Sissy Spacek, Michael Rooker, Joe Pesci, Jay O. Sanders, Jack Lemmon, Ed Asner, Donald Sutherland, Brian- Doyle Murray, Vincent D' Onofrio, John Candy, Wayne Knight, and Walter Matthau.
Phenomenal Academy Award winning cinematography by Robert Richardson, with brilliant editing by Joe Hutshing & Pietro Scalia, and a hauntingly effective score by John Williams. An intelligent and thought-provoking motion picture.
Highly Recommended.
