Review of JFK (1991) by Enrico C — 23 Sep 2010
Epic. The viewers may feel at times like they're being asked to take in a lot of information, every single minute little detail indicating this or that about JFK's murder, but in fact I'd say the real aim of the movie is to INSPIRE--inspire to always fight for the truth.
And JFK succeeds in this aim. In fact, the movie is so inspiring that the very word doesn't seem adequate to describe it--"inspiring" is so overused these days, when it should be kept safe somewhere in order to be taken out and used when describing things like JFK, especially the last 40 minutes or so, in which Jim Garrison's final speech to the jury makes even Atticus Finch look like one of those chimpanzees that can only string together a few words at a time in sign language.
JFK makes your fingers shake and your heart pound (again, banal, but appropriate in this context); it's the kind of movie that makes you wander the house in a daze, and you're afraid to give even the slightest attention to anything else for many hours afterwards (a book, the news, another movie, tv, some random video your brother's watching on youtube) for fear of corrupting the emotions that have taken possession of you.
Watch it.
