Review of Jezebel (1938) by Linda C — 02 Dec 2009
Wow. could Bette Davis act or what? She nails this role completely, almost making Henry Fonda a non entity in the film. The film shows a south struggling with its future, not too successfully. At the same time, its protagonist struggles with herself and her desires, mirroring the society that is crumbling slowly around her.
Watching the film one can't help but be captivated at all times by Davis. She is so good.
