Review of Jesus' Son (2000) by Craig W — 08 Jun 2007

I don't know if this is my favourite movie of all time, but it is the one I thought of first when compiling my list. It is probably Crudup's best performance to date: a character whom there is every reason to despise, whom instead you love.

Not so much a story as an anthology of great scenes with first-rate actors, all playing wounded characters, which adds up to a triumphant, redemptive whole. This film makes me hope, despite myself.
