Review of Jesus of Montreal (1989) by Lang V — 22 Feb 2008
Over a decade later and I still have a visceral sense of this movie. It hammers home on every level. Undoubtedly Denys Arcand standout work.
Interpreting this movie is meaningless given the content; the main actor in a university performance piece set around 'the passion' of the christ, starts to embody his character, in more ways than one.
Its not religious, its not dramatic farce (yes we're looking at you Mr Gibson), its relevant and biting social observation, and it WORKS.
