Review of Jesus Christ Superstar (2000) by Susanne F — 24 Feb 2009
At the beginning of the film I was a little bit annoyed by the up to date setting, but as the film went on I found it interesting enough. Glenn Carter has a good voice, and I loved his portrayal of a torn Jesus. Vocally I still like Steve Balsamo's version better. I actually remember Carter being a apostle in the London version :o).
Jérôme Pradons performance was both heaven and hell, but nothing compares to Ramon Tikaram's version I think also from the London Lyceum production. The character that surprised me the most was Fred Johanson (Pilate) - wonderful both acting and singing!
