Review of Jesus Christ Superstar (1973) by Christoph R — 21 Jan 2008
I have formative memories of watching this in S.C with my relatives where I fell in love with it.
It has its flaws including hippy-era baggage, and some terrible casting errors that take away from the experience but the music beautiful, the portrayal of judas by carl anderson is one of the most heart-breakingly beautiful performances in musical history and while the mores and arrogance of the times in which it was made make it more than a little campy ther is no disputing that it has a soul.
