Review of Jesus Christ Superstar (1973) by Diana M — 13 Mar 2008
The alternate view of Christ in music is an inspired and touching musical. Unlike the insulting "Godspell" (Sorry Jesus Christ with as a clean shaven chubby white dude with an afro and rainbow suspenders is really offensive; at least to me.
Jesus wasn't a dorky mook who wore facepaint.) "Jesus Christ Superstar" is set in the actual places where Jesus Christ lived and taught. With great songs and good acting we get a modern approach to Jesus' life and ultimate sacriface.
Imagine if Martin Scorsese's "Last Temptation of Christ" was a musical, and you got a good idea of how good "Jesus Christ Superstar" is.
