Review of Jesus Christ Superstar (1973) by Josh H — 27 Jun 2008

This was my first exposure to the play, and while I'm sure it's much more impressive on broadway, from what I read the film does a pretty good job of transferring the production to the big screen.

Can't say that I loved it...it was good..I get the whole 'rock opera' thing...having to sing every word of dialog, and I appreciate that...but that doesn't necessarily mean that I think it works all the time.

The guy who plays Judas, I think, steals the show a bit...he's really good. I also appreciate the film going with the "human" version of the story (SEE "Last Temptation of Christ").
