Review of Jesus Camp (2006) by Angel L — 30 Jan 2009
I didn't feel like the filmmakers were as objective as they claimed to be (note the ominous music always playing while the camera zoomed in on an American flag). But in spite of that, I actually found this to be a very encouraging look at evangelical Pentecostal Christianity.
I was expecting the people in the film to be way more extreme and unorthodox than they were, but actually, they seemed pretty normal to me. They really didn't do anything that I haven't or wouldn't done myself.
Sure, no one's perfect, but do people realize how much more messed up truly extremist Christians can be? I guess if you aren't from the subculture, it's pretty shocking, but yeah, things can definitely be much scarier.
