Review of Jesus Camp (2006) by Matt R — 22 Aug 2009
First of all I am an athiest.
Secondly, this is one of the most frightening things I have ever seen.
It sickens me how the kids in this are completely brainwashed. It's like child abuse on a pyschological scale. At times, it is so funny how deluded that these people are, and at others it's just incredibly sad.
The parents are trying to hide their children away from the world and keep pushing their beliefs onto them and not acknowledging any others which don't agree with theirs. And worse still they allow these people at 'bible camps' to preach to their kids.
One scene that sticks in my mind is when the kids are telling ghost stories and just acting like KIDS instead of preachers. Then this guy comes in and tells them to stop, saying it's not honouring God and they should focus on God instead. It's just horrible, the people robbing the children of their childhood.
A real eye opener into the horrors of the lives of many Evangelicals in America.
