Review of Jesus Camp (2006) by Jeff R — 28 Apr 2010
Important, although the message is as distant as a family dinner eaten in silence. It deserves five stars for playing Chief Justice Robert's Christian American rant, Haggard sniping at a ten year old, and for it's unflinching depiction of doting child-abuse.
It gets three for ham-fisted horror music, for not connected the stories to the top. The lazy "direct messaging" through a radio talking head makes the message easy to ignore. Also for too much time spent alone with these kids (making for boring viewing) overlong, and IMHO, failing to connect a bunch of homeschoolers to the very real influence of evangelical political power.
