Review of Jesus Camp (2006) by Devin H — 18 May 2010
Nothing like a documentary about the evangelical movement to reinforce my own prejudices about the heartland. Watching the kind of intense guilt trip put on these kids also reinforces my opinion that religion is not appropriate for children.
The characters inhabiting this alternate born-again universe are fascinating and profoundly disturbing (i.e. Ted Haggard). A glimpse at a movement's well-organized, long term plan to undermine democracy and a glimpse into crazy. I'm curious to see how these organizations function now that they don't have one of their own in the White House and aren't getting their Supreme Court nominations. Heaven help the introverted, thoughtful child thrust into one of these loony camps.
