Review of Jesus Camp (2006) by Chris D — 26 Jun 2010
An incredible look into a fundamentalist summer camp. I especially enjoyed the fact that the documentary didn't try to make any points: there are scenes of a religious talk radio host, who disagrees with the methodology of the "Jesus Camp", but all we see is the debate, and get to draw our conclusions.
What I get from the film is that this is not a direction we want our country going in: where every outsider is an element of Satan trying to fill our children with evil. This is not how you have a conversation, where you immediately declare that the other side is not following the mission of God and must turn away from this sin. It scares me to think of how dangerous this sort of indoctrination is: these children are being taught to be against independent thought.
