Review of Jesus Camp (2006) by Lindsay — 12 Aug 2010
Another documentary that is very successful at creating a world and insight into a community as opposed to just reporting and documenting. The editing was very good catching small scenes that became critical in the whole package. It was the small details that really sold me on the film. The director definitely had a keen and sharp eye which added a good dimension and layer to the execution. As a result, the film was really able to draw out emotion and reaction from the audience.
I will say that there is a decent bias in the presentation of the community, but the execution is very well done nonetheless. As a Christian myself, I found it to be a very good representation of evangelism gone wrong. The topic of choice is probably not as interesting for those who know less of the culture, but it's still sure to offer up some kind of inside look into this crazy scene.
