Review of Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise (2006) by Derek D — 26 Nov 2010
This Jesse Stone cop drama is another decent addition to the series. The star, Selleck, and the regular film crew involved mean it has a a sure & steady approach. It's an above average tv movie with done nice character touches- Selleck is wise enough to trade in his gentlemen persona, but he avoids being typecast by having an underplayed toughness and sadness in his acting.
As with any ongoing series, an eyebrow could be raised at the number of murders and shootings ( 2 to 3 per movie) given the tiny seaside town dynamic. However, this film involves solving a cold case,so its not quite "Murder She Wrote!" yet.
The Nova Scotia locations add to the visual appeal.
