Review of Jersey Girl (2004) by Matthew S — 20 Aug 2009
- on dvd -.
It gets slated a lot by my K Smith loving buddies. But you know what I like it. It's a good movie. Which plays with your emotions going from tear jerker to laugh out loud moments so sporadically. It's cool to see Kevin Smith can make a comedy without it being full of sexual comedy, this is the first family movie he's ever made. My only issue with the movie is the ending. It's great when you see little Gertie's face look up at her Dad in the play and her eyes light up and she smiles, it's cute and it's a great moment. But I wish he'd gone back to NYC and they'd done the play, couldn't he have changed the interview date or anything. Too many coincidences ruin Affleck's character's life in this movie. Still good, Kev's only family movie. Underrated too.
