Review of Jersey Boys (2014) by Rosie G — 30 Jun 2014
Pay no attention to the naysayers. This movie is wonderful! I loved the stage musical that I saw in LA. That was like going to a concert that was woven together with the story. You were able to get on your feet and dance and sing but you really missed the depth of the story.
I loved delving deeper into the story that the movie allowed you to do. I really understood the dynamics and personal sacrifice of each of the characters. Very thought provoking theme. The fact that a price always must be paid for our choices no matter what we choose; the complexity of all our relationships and how strengths and faults of ourselves and those around us are woven into our lives; making the difficult choice of where to place our loyalty.
The story telling moved along at a fast pace and the performances were superb, very touching with more than a few tears shed. The costumes and set accurately captured the passing of time and it was easy to tell what year it was.
And mustn't forget the music! With all of this great storytelling going on, the film still managed to capture the glorious, fun music that made the Four Seasons such a hit! A must see! Do not miss Jersey Boys!
