The title of the film is "Jersey Boys", not "Greatest Hits of the Four Seasons". It's about 4 young men from a tough part of Jersey who formed a group, created a unique sound, and became the best selling band in American history.
The story is about the boys, who they were, how they became men (and what kind men they were), how success affected them, what they paid for it on a personal level. We have all loved the songs - this movie pays respect to the people who gave us that one-of-a-kind sound.
The only part I thought was out of place was the big "number" at the end. The do-wop under the street light was really "it". Excellent film and I recommend it.
