Review of Jersey Boys (2014) by Matthew B — 12 Jul 2014
Not largely being a fan of Musicals but after learning that Clint Eastwood was directing this feature very much left me little choice but to watch a piece of history, while adapted from the Stage production of the same name.
John Lloyd Young, the actor who portrayed the legendary Frankie Valli reminded me more of ex-Journey frontman Steve Perry mainly over looks alone which made me think if they made a Journey film, he'd be ideal for Perry lol. And the dude who played Bob Gaudio had me thinking of Oz from American Pie and his singing trying to impress a girl. Oh the irony!
Overall a watchable film. It was as I described as a history lesson for those interested in learning how The Four Seasons came to be, and also love the little touch of how Joe Pesci introduced Valli and Tommy DeVito to Gaudio. Awesome little piece of trivia there I thought. And hilarious how the actor playing him gave out a couple nods to a couple iconic characters Pesci played throughout his career - brilliant! â~º.
