Review of Jerry Maguire (1996) by Donnie D — 23 Apr 2011
"Show Me The Money" The phrase that obviously pays because it basically won Cuba Gooding Jr. an Oscar...(i'm still baffled by this but anyway...).
*SPOILER.
I loved the movie. The whole on top sports agent falling in love with his secretary because he lost his "fiance`" or girlfriend who was superficial & was only there to ride his coattails.
The whole fact that she secretly had a crush on him was cute. I did like the fact that they incorporated the whole "baby mama" thing into the equation. That gave me a lot more respect for "Hollywood" seeing as though those parts are usually reserved for African-American ladies.
All in all I give it 4 out of 5 stars. The main reason being: The stereotypical way they portrayed the character of Rod Tidwell. I mean athletes are generally cocky anyway, yes. No matter what the race. (I know because I'm related to 3 pro-football players & went to high-school with another.).
The movie was good & I liked seeing Tom in a role he's good @:
A Winner.
