Review of Jerry Maguire (1996) by Harry W — 27 Oct 2012
Jerry Maguire doesn't appear as anything too special to me. But what I did like was that Tom Cruise played a likable character who wasn't cocky, but rather just friendly regardless of the several events that happened. Some parts of the plot and several subplots I found unnecessary and silly, but I saw a part of myself in the character Jerry Maguire which made me want to stay and watch. Tom Cruise was good in this film, as unexpected as that is.
Also, Renee Zellwegger was good and despite several cliches her character went through, she played the character fairly well.
Best of all, Cuba Gooding Jr. Played a great character who was doing everything and anything and it was great to see him do it, especially at that scene where he gets up after his injury and dances around. I like how his character develops from being about money to being about sports, cause nobody does that anymore.
The film maintained the true heart of a sports movie even though it was about the Wall Street side of NFL and it followed both sides well. So Jerry Maguire was good enough, and I didn't mind Tom Cruise which is very rare of me.
