This is cheap, pop-culture redemption at its worst. I teach morality for a living and take it from me there are no morals to be found in this so-called morality tale. Maguire supposedly has a moral epiphany at the beginning of the movie, but his professional persona remains unchanged afterwards.
He's still focused primarily on making money and the only reason he doesn't have more clients is because no one will have him, not because he's limiting himself out of a sense of duty to the players.
Cruise is characteristically unconvincing in all roles, as a cut-throat agent, as a redeemed agent, and as someone who genuinely cares for or loves the Zellweger character. Finally, what the hell were they thinking when they made the movie longer with the goldfish scenes? They are nonsensical.
