An amazing and sprawling epic, jeremiah johnson is hands down my favorite western. Probably the most impressive part, is the scenery. The cinematography is amazing with breathtaking vistas of the rocky mountains and plenty of wide open spaces to take in.
The movie follows Jeremiah Johnson, an easterner who escapes to the uncharted wilderness of colorado to leave behind his hardship life in the east. We see a complete transformation of him from a city-slicker to a full-blown mountain man through the helps of native americans and other trappers.
He soon finds that the pristine territory is full of dangerous animals, hostile indians, and challenges of survival in a complete wilderness. Without giving away too much, the movie shows us that the savagry of man cannot be escaped.
A truely exciting yet deep and moving western oddyssey.
