Review of Jennifer's Body (2009) by Marie-Pier D — 17 Mar 2011
Well sometimes you see a film after reading the press reviews, and you wonder: "What film did these people see?" This is one of those films. With great surprise I found that the film is well put together - good cinematography, direction and editing.
Very good casting choices all around, with the two leads working very well together. And the visual effects are inspired and refreshingly restrained. But I almost didn't go see the film. Why? Bad reviews.
Let me begin by stating the obvious. Megan Fox is gorgeous absolutely gorgeous apart from a small problem is with her left canine lol.. Of course she plays the perfect vapid hot teen what else did anyone expect.
.I'm sorry but I disagree with every negative critique, and I'm usually highly critical myself. This movie did no wrong for me. The use of invented vernacular, the juxtaposition of inappropriate conversations during the most supernatural scenes, the comedy/horror hybrid that perfectly matches the sarcasm and cynicism of the film.
.. I loved it. Picture perfect. This movie was smart, young, fun, and it was what it was. It was the opposite of pretentious. See it and enjoy it for what it is "new generation" comedy (full of irony and hilarity and a groovy "horror" story underneath it all.
