Jeff Who Lives At Home is a film directed by Mark and Jay Duplass, starring Jason Segel and Ed Helms, about two brothers who are in pretty bad situations. One lives a secluded life in his motherâ(TM)s basement while the other is having serious marital issues. Jeff (Segel) is a very unique individual, who is oddly inspired by the film âSignsâ?. He believes everything happens for a reason and he looks for signs everywhere that could point him in his destined direction. The two brothers share a deep emotional connection and Segel and Helms have great on screen presence. The boys mother has her issues as well. The movie switches back and forth between their motherâ(TM)s problems and their own problems, so itâ(TM)s quite unique in the way the film is presented.

This is hands down, Jason Segels finest performance to date, delivering a superb performance as the misunderstood Jeff. The character is simply wonderful and the character study behind him is displayed very well. The story in general is handled with care, almost in an overly safe way. Although itâ(TM)s a very intriguing and original story, things tend to stay low key throughout. There are some laughs here and there, but Jeff Who Lives At Home is made to impress in an âindieâ? kind of way, and it does just that. All of the subtleties are here, and it all works nicely. The centerpiece of it all is Jeff, and that is what makes the movie stand out in the crowd. You will cheer for Jeff and the rest of the cast until itâ(TM)s all said and done. Jeff is such a kind hearted, honest character that you will actually begin to care about him and what will happen with his life. The movie starts off a little slow, but by the end, it becomes honest, heartwarming, and ultimately delivers the goods. The entire cast is stellar, especially Segel and Helms. No one could have done it better. With a well written script, top notch acting, serious emotional depth, a touching story, and a unique presentation, Jeff Who Lives At Home is not one you want to miss. Itâ(TM)s one of those films that will resonate with you, in the heart area.
