Review of Jeepers Creepers (2001) by Richard C — 09 Aug 2012
Jeepers Creepers is an interesting film. It starts off as one type of flick. A sort of traditional slasher flick but with a believable bro/sis pairing. And than it kind of morphs into this weird kick on an urban legend before morphing into a cool spin on a creature feature.
One thing this film is, is truly creative. And if you look a little deeper. Victor Salva the writer/director went to jail for being a pedophile. And at it's simplest this is a film about a young boy with his sister who is targeted by an creature dressed up as an old man.
And if you dive a little deeper you can see a sort of deep rooted social context thats truly scary. It's more than meets the eyes and when realizing the films true purpose and intentions it becomes truly terrifying.
At face value it's a nice, creepy little horror gem thats become a classic but underneath that is a real movie that deserves to be recognized for better or worse.
