Review of Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003) by Kevin R — 18 Jan 2015
Every 23rd day for 23 days it gets to eat.
The first Jeepers Creepers displayed a new monster in the horror genre that fed every twenty three years. This movie picks up where that movie left off, with our monster targeting a group of kids it would like to eat. The kids happen to be returning home from a football game when their bus breaks down. They make for an easy target for the monster as they sit in the middle of nowhere. Can the kids defend themselves or will they simply become monster food?
"Don't tell me that's a belly button in the middle.".
Victor Salva, director of Powder, Jeepers Creepers, Peaceful Warrior, Dark Horse, Clownhouse, and the upcoming Jeepers Creepers 3, delivers Jeepers Creepers 2. The storyline for this picture was very disappointing and didn't have nearly the character development and quality script the first one had. The kill scenes were okay and the special effects were solid. The acting was very average and the cast includes Ray Wise, Jonathan Breck, Nicki Aycox, Al Santos, Diane Delano, and Lena Cardwell.
"Somebody out there burning a marijuana field or something because these stories are way, way out there?!?!".
I was a huge fan of the first Jeepers Creepers movie and hoped they wouldn't ruin the franchise with worthless sequels (I could live with equally well thought-out follow ups); unfortunately, this was just an excuse to use the monster in different ways and increase the body count. I still enjoyed the film, but it was only slightly above average and nowhere near as good as the original.
"It just tore its head off.".
Grade: C+.
