Review of Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003) by Ross M — 25 Apr 2009
Okay, I really don't see what is so bad about this film. The cast are good, the direction is good, it is filled with strong suspense and the visuals are outstanding. I cannot stress enough how annoyed I feel when people rate this down, because I cannot see why. It is not badly made and i've seen it many times and each time I can never find somethign wrong with it. Sure it is people's opinions and no one elses but I'm just saying I can't see what these viewers can find wrong with myself.
This must be the film most people think I rate too highly. It is in my top 40 of all time. I loved it and think it is nearly flawless so that is why I rated it that high, and I am happy with it being that high.
Now for the film: The little known cast as brilliant and all show the fear their character is feeling sucessfully. It is a nice ensemble, with the whole cast all trapped on a bus which makes it enticing, gripping and scary and therefore fun to watch. It is quite graphic too and it looks realistic at all times.
The direction is great too, with Salva building suspense very carefully and allowing several action scenes to be thrown in the mix. He set out to make a horror film and he made a great one, even better than the first. I don't know what it is about this film, and many peopel think it isn't, but I found it incredibly scary too. It is possibly because the creeper is such a mysterious character and is a whole new type of villian which means there are no cliches to make him 2 dimensional and unscary.
The ending of this film is genious. A really perfect ending. I hope a third film isn't made to ruin the effect of this end.
This is an Incredibly under-rated horror and should get so much more praise from others. It deserves it in my eyes.
