Review of Jeepers Creepers (1939) by Alex C — 12 Sep 2010
The first movie (there's only two, so far) shows much more tendency toward the genre, rather than the second which more reserved to do a 'teen-flick' horror. I am a big fan of the first, as it brings out the greater experience and everlasting memories of the story.
The horror starts here, the legend is born here, too. This is what a horror movie should do; entertain our fear. The sequence in the police department, I tell you what, is one of the most fearsome sequences in a horror movie.
I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen or I would be sure missing the experience. I also have to applaud the make-up artist's works, too for 'making the demon' alive. I love the cinematography and the atmosphere (especially in the police department sequence), which gives a little bit reference to '80s and a nod to noirs at the time.
The performances from both actors are quite admirable, and as always from Justin Long. The script is mythical, but that's okay for me. Rather, every lines just made the film more convincing. Overall, I will have to put the film on my 'greatest horror movies', if I make any someday.
That'd be one too big a miss if I don't.
