Review of Jeepers Creepers (1939) by Paul J — 16 Nov 2011
Francis Coppola was one of the producers on this freaky little film. The first half is surprisingly very suspenseful. What starts out as an extremely promising horror film then turns into a fantasy film in the latter half.
Despite the tension being lost (they lose the believability factor) the monster is quite effective. It has elements of Pumpkinhead and you can see the filmmakers trying to create an archetypal villain alongside Freddy Krueger or Jason Vorhees.
They almost succeed. That said, horror fans should definitely check it out if only for the first 45 minutes.
