Review of Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1976) by Ed Q — 09 Aug 2009
Not quite as minimalistically epic as bela tarrs satantango or Lav diazs Heremias.
But a 3 plus hour film about the everyday life of a housewife/prostitute may be a little too much for some.
But this poetic and subtly dramatic masterpiece leaves you hypnotized from the first shot.
Like that of todays minimalist filmmakers such as Ming-Liang Tsai, Akermans poetic vision sees the true beauty of "the things normal people over- look!".
This film is a true example of ...
..."The Poetry Of Everyday Life".
