Review of Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child (2010) by Therese O — 10 Dec 2010
A well crafted narrative on the life of a beautiful young man who - like countless artists throughout history - used his talent as a conduit for the approval he craved from his father and fellow artists he idolized.
Without any spiritual compass - his lack of grounding was unable to cope with the extreme pressure of his unexpected success. Sadly and predictably his life was cut tragically short by his inability to extinguish his inner anguish.
He was THE artistic voice of my generation - the punk/neo-expressionism of the 1980's.
