Review of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) by Steph O — 17 Sep 2010
When I was first introduced to Kevin Smith movies I absolutely hated them. I hated the humour, I hated the bullshit stories, and most of all I hated Jay and Silent Bob. But holy SHIT they have grown on me. Somehow with every Kevin Smith movie I saw I started loving the View Askewniverse characters and inside jokes more and more.
Even though I definitely don't like "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" as much as Smith's other films involving Jay, Silent Bob and the entire View Askewniverse - it's still pretty damn funny. As I said, I completely loved all the inside jokes. So many funny cameos and movie references. Too many to even list.
The characters and director of "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" make fun of themselves, they make fun of Hollywood... they make fun of the movie itself. To try and take this movie seriously would be a grave mistake. If you've never seen any of Kevin Smith's movies you'd probably have a hard time loving this one unless you just take it for what it is - a very stupid comedy with a LOT of in jokes.
