Review of Jaws: The Revenge (1987) by Richard A — 24 Aug 2009
Jaws: The Revenge.
Widely considered the worst, wrong!
Jaws: The Revenge is not without flaws, some major, however the fourth installment is an improvement over the dismal effort was was Jaws 3-D.
Jaws: The Revenge begins with another shark showing up in Amity and chomping the youngest son of the late Chief Brody. Grief-stricken, Ellen Brody goes to the Bahamas to be with marine biologist son, Michael (played here by Lance Guest). After the shark follows her there, Ellen, Michael, Michael's buisness partner Jake (Mario Van Peebles) and Ellen's new love Hoagie (British acting legend Michael Caine) must set out to defeat the vengeful beast once and for all!
The film is well paced and takes full advantage of the beautiful location. The film suffers with sub-standard special effects and a weak script, however compared to Jaws 3D which insulted the audience into leaving the cinema, this film can sit comfortably behing Jaws 2 as the 2nd best sequel to Speilberg's iconic original.
