Review of Jaws: The Revenge (1987) by Sean J — 02 Sep 2008
Okayâ?¦sharks donâ??t growl or roar. They cannot leave trails of blood in their wake and on their teeth BEFORE theyâ??ve even attacked their victims. They cannot explode for no discernible reason when impaled with wood.
Oh, and of course, most importantly, sharks cannot, I repeat CANNOT hold personal grudges against one particular family. There are worse films around than this, but I reckon only around three or four.
If you must see this film, try and catch the version without the happy ending where a quite plainly gobbled-up victim miraculously comes back from the dead due to the fact that audiences in early test screenings didnâ??t want him to die.
Unfortunately all versions feature a character emerging from the ocean with dry clothes. The best line isnâ??t even in the film, itâ??s from an interview with Michael Caine about why he appeared in such crap; â??I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible.
However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific.â?? An embarrassing film, but not a dull one.
