Review of Jaws 3-D (1983) by Allan C — 20 Jan 2013
Possibly the worst of the "Jaws" franchise, except that they film's producers had the audacity to make a sequel to this turkey. Looking at the writing credits you'd think the film had potential, with "Jaws" original screenwriter "Carl Gottlieb" and the brilliant Richard Matheson.
However, the film is a mess, involving a great white shark eating people at Sea World. There's no real suspense, a complete lack of interesting characters, and just abysmal special effects. In later interviews, writer Richard Matheson claimed that the film was bedeviled with script doctors that ruined the central premise of a white shark swimming upstream and becoming trapped in a lake.
I think the only reason to maybe watch the film is to see Lea Thompson in her feature film debut and Dennis Quaid in an early role.
