Review of Jaws 3-D (1983) by Mike Y — 26 Mar 2011
1 - The first one was masterful. The second one was solidly executed and suspenseful, even if more of the same. That's as far as I'm concerned the Jaws series ended. With J3D, the ball has been dropped completely with a story that is ludicrous, and a gigantic rubber shark that hardly moves, and which attacks within the confines of a water theme park (whoever thought that was a good idea needs to be fed to a shark).
The 3D effect is actually appalling, with lots of gimmicky shots that poke something at the screen for the sake of it, compounded further by some of the worst special effects ever seen with many composite shots gone terribly wrong.
This was followed by yet another bad sequel which thought it best to scratch this from the the Jaws timeline.
