Review of Jaws 2 (1978) by Andy H — 07 Apr 2012
Jaws is most definitely a sequel proof movie. The entire plot gets resolved and there really isn't a need for a sequel. And they made one anyway. My expectations were pretty low for this film for a few reasons, one being that Spielberg wasn't directing, and two being that Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss weren't in it.
I will go on record to say that this film is not a bad effort. The film tries to go in a different direction. Brody now must face his fears of the water AND the shark on his own. On the other hand, I find it strange that the politicians in the town are so adamant in knowing that another shark isn't around and coming off as though it is not possible.
Would they really have forgotten about what happened in that short span of time? So taking all things into account, I find this film very average. It can be entertaining if you are not expecting the genius of the first film.
