Review of Jaws 2 (1978) by Mathlover9000 — 30 Jan 2018
Jaws is one of my favorite movies of all time. This film doesn't even contain a fraction of its predecessor's greatness or magic. This film is filled with cool scenes, visuals, and music but is messy with it's storyline and plot.
Unlike the first film, this film lacks character development, memorable characters, and the rich suspense and emotion. Though I'll give the film credit for still have suspense and emotion. It's just not as much as the first one.
In terms of the story and plot, it would have been a good if this film was a standalone film. But because it is a successor of Jaws, the plot/story isn't well written for a sequel. Though the characters were forgettable, at least they were not annoying or unlikeable.
Fortunately, there isn't a lot of cringeworthy scenes in the movie. The first two acts of this movie was slow, but the third act was great. This movie would have been a 7/10 if it was a standalone movie, but because this is a sequel to Jaws, this film is a 5/10.
