Review of Jaws (1975) by Marc R — 30 Apr 2014
One of the greatest of all thrillers. Spielberg's seminal entertainment towers above its many imitators for having well-drawn and engaging characters, showing the shark as little as possible, and caring as much about storytelling as it does scaring the audience, both aspects handled with economic and acute sensibilities and visual virtuosity.
Along with E.T., it remains Spielberg's peak.
