Review of Jaws (1975) by Adam S — 25 Dec 2013

It is one of Hollywood's most remarkable feats, and "Jaws", the film that launched both the summer blockbuster and the career of Steven Spielberg is still a classic suspense film that, at least in the 2nd half, is the rival to the films of Alfred Hitchcock.

As a marine biologist, I had some strong issues with the first half of the film, as I lost count on the amount of misinformation that was spouted by the characters about sharks, misinformation that even today is being used to support horrid legislation such as the recent shark cull in Western Australia.

But in terms of keeping you in your seat, entertained, thrilled and shocked, Jaws ticks all the boxes to become a true Hollywood classic.
