Review of Jaws (1975) by Derrick N — 15 Mar 2014
Steven Spielberg brought yet another blockbuster starring Roy Schneider and Robert Shaw. A shark reins terror on a beach that is infested with people visiting on their summer vacation. The mayor refuses to shut down the beach because he expects great sales on the fourth of July. He doesn't realize that this threat is more horrific than he had imagined. This could possibly be one of the most overrated films of all time. This doesn't mean that I don't find it enjoyable seeing a shark draw terror to a cities eyes, but the film doesn't have some great storyline that blows one away. Despite being a shark film the shark does not show up that much. I do think that it builds more suspense, and this film definitely built suspense if nothing else. I didn't see anything fascinating about this movie. The last scene in the film was nicely done, but the film was nothing to marvel at. Definitely entertaining, suspenseful, and eerie this film is worthy of at least one watch.
3.3/5.
