Review of Jaws (1975) by Terminator 8 — 03 Dec 2015
You would not think that a movie about three guys hunting a shark that is hovering around a local summer vacation community could be nominated for Best Picture, well that is how good Jaws is. Everyone knows the infamous music from the film by John Williams.
And most people know the story behind Steven Spielberg's epic blockbuster. I remember my father telling me about when Jaws was first released in theatres in 1975 and how it scared people out of the ocean.
After seeing this movie, people were literally afraid to go near the ocean in fear that this shark could be out there. Jaws was way ahead of its time as most Spielberg's movies usually are, and stands the test of time, because it is still a great movie today.
It is the ultimate summer blockbuster. But that is on the surface. The writing and acting is Jaws is absolutely top notch. How was Robert Shaw not nominated for a Best Supporting Actor statue? That's a flat out travesty.
His U.S.S Indianapolis story scene alone is worth a nomination. This is a classic in every sense of the word, and will never get old, at least not for me.
