Review of Jaws (1975) by Robin D — 03 Sep 2015
Jaws is without a doubt a classic movie you just have to see. If you love suspense and tension jaws is a perfect film to see. Without a doubt jaws is one of the best films ever and it's my personal favorite Spielberg movie.
The main cast is absolutely amazing and all of the acting is fantastic, even the child acting. Roy Scheider is fantastic in this film, he's a very like able character and you really feel for him when no one really listens to him at the start of the film.
He's one of the best characters ever put to film. Richard the Dreyfuss is also fantastic, he's a very likable character also and he's quite funny as well. Robert Shaw is one of the most likeable assholes in film history, I love the character of Quint, he's a pretty badass character and I love some of his lines.
The actress who plays Chief Brody's wife is great, I forget her name but she's brilliant. This film is amazingly directed by the one and only Steven Spielberg, considering how many problems there were with the production of this film it's amazing how well Spielberg was able to direct this film.
It's actually quite inspirational. The script and editing for this film are flawless. This film is a masterpiece in suspense and tension, it's fantastic and has you on the edge of your seat. Without a doubt though the thing that makes the film so tense is not the scary shark attacks it's the music.
John Williams score is absolutely amazing, it's tense and foreboding and just makes all the shark attacks amazing. The score is so brilliant and it's one of the best scores ever put to film. This movie is full of iconic scenes, like the amazing and probably my favorite scene in the movie is where Chief Brody, Hooper and Quint are on the boat, they drink, they laugh, they show scars and then Quint tells his story about the Indianapolis and the Sharks eyes, it's an amazing scene and is fantastically acted by Robert Shaw.
There are so many other great scenes also like the iconic and terrifying opening, the shark attack scene with the boy on the raft or the touching scene where Chief Brody and his son copy each other and pull faces, it's a cute scene and a very.
Touching scene. One of the great things about this movie that everyone talks about is how they hide the shark for the first hour. This could have easily back fired but it works so well. The big reveal of the shark is great and leads to one of the most iconic lines of all time.
Overall Jaws is a masterpiece of a film, it's one of the best movies ever made and it's a fantastic horror movie. It's without a doubt one of my favourite movies and in my top 10 of all time.
A+.
