Review of Jason X (2001) by Luke B — 23 Jan 2009
Jason X is the most fun in the franchise after the original. Yes it's stupid, but nowhere near as stupid as the body hopping of the last outing. Jason X is a simple fantasy of "what if Jason were in space?".
He finds futuristic ways to kill people but mostly relies on ol' faithful. Some of the lines are genuinely funny "That'll do it" and "It's OK he just wanted his machete back".
Lots of gore and a plot that is basically a cheap version of Alien. It kept me the most enthralled since the original and with punctuation between kills expanded to include an alien shoot 'em up simulation etc.
It makes a change from all the same characters/settings, but in a good way. Fun if you like dumb enjoyable horror and naff sci-fi.
