Review of Jason X (2001) by Ifiok O — 07 May 2012
Oh no, Jason in space...hang on, this is actually quite good. The plot is of course as stupid as it sounds but 70% of the time it works. I would also say this is the funnist in the series, though the voilence has dumbed down a bit, there are some cool, original death scenes but then again, as it's set in space, anything's possible.
The sight of seeing Jason being reanimated is a strange delight, seeing him slick and updated makes him a true killer. The worst thing about this is again, the acting, except for Lexa Doig as Rowan, who is pretty good but only noticable because the rest are rubbish.
Jason gets a futuristic makeover and annihilates someone using a giant screwing tool. After sitting through Jason's latest exploits, the audience may find itself identifying with that victim in particular.
As far as the Friday series goes, this is more fun than anyone had any right to imagine. Not a bad sequel and you can watch this without having seen the other sequels, which I recommend you do, to be honest.
